NEW! Library adds two streaming video databases

ASP Streaming Video Collections

For the past two years, we’ve been trying out different streaming video databases. In the past, we’ve provided access to two Films on Demand collections- Business & Economics Collection, and Health & Medicine Collection. We currently subscribe to NBC Learn, which contains a ton of 3-5 minute video clips from NBC news programming. Based on usage statistics, this semester we decided to switch from Films on Demand to Alexander Street Press (ASP). We already subscribe to ASP’s Classical Music Library database. Now they are offering a large collection of stream video resources. We chose to specifically subscribe to Education in Video and Ethnographic Video Online.

  • Education in Video contains more than 1,300 hours of teaching demonstrations, lectures, documentaries, and primary-source footage of students and teachers in classrooms. For more information, visit here.
  • Ethnographic Video Online features more than 750 hours of documentaries as well as field notes. It is also semantically indexed to enable cross-cultural comparisons. For more information, click here.

To access the databases, visit the library’s home page and click on “Databases” or, go to the “Library Services” tab in Blackboard, and select “Database Access”.
If you’re studying one of these fields, take a look at the streaming video collection and let us know what you think!
